We have compiled a list of resources for our patients. It is not complete but is an introduction to those most helpful to the majority. More specialized needs may be met by using the services of the major organizations such as the American Foundation for the Blind, American Council of the Blind, National Federation of the Blind, Council of Citizens with Low Vision and others. They maintain extensive, current information on all aspects of vision loss and are eager to help. It is recommended that you support your local organizations and join one or more of the major national organizations. An invaluable help to those who have recently become visually impaired is to contact people with similar problems. The bottom line is that all who have vision loss will benefit from at least several resources, and should not hesitate to do so. More resources are becoming available, particularly in the technology area, where computers are opening access to even the completely blind. Help, information, education and access to the world are there. Make use of them.
